Abstract:
>Authors’ conclusions: acute pharyngitis and the other variables of the study improved in the first postoperative year in tonsillectomized children versus children with expectant management (the first year after) but not the following.
Reviewers’ conclusions: the limitations of the study make it difficult to draw conclusions. In any case, it would seem that the beneficial effects of tonsillectomy are unimportant from a clinical point of view and they are not maintained over time, so their indication must be carefully identified in each case.
